The purpose of this project is to identify the marketing plan and marketing strategy elements we covered in class as they are applied in a social media context.
1. Step 1: Think back of a company that you like the most – strong preference towards a local, Las Vegas company. Do not use national companies such as Starbucks, Victoria Secret, Nordstrom, Nike. If you are not clear, send me an email so I can confirm your choice is valid. You might want to keep your choice personal.
2. Step 2: Check to see if your chosen company has a: corporate blog, microblog (twitter), Facebook, Youtube channel, Linkedin profile, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok etc.
3. Step 3: Check to see if those are the original/official page. You will need to monitor the OFFICIAL PAGES.
4. Step 4: Engage with the company: subscribe to newsletter/email notification/’Like’ the page, follow it etc.
5. Step 5: Up until December (when the project is due) you are required to monitor their pages and write a report with your findings. You can focus on three online social media outlets. This period has been selected as Thanksgiving sales are approaching and companies step up their online presence. a. What to monitor: Press releases, contest, sweepstakes, any type of social communication in between the company and the customers. Some companies may have a very active social presence; some will have maybe a two, three communication sessions in this period. If they are too active, focus on a specific period, a specific contest, communication message and follow it through up to Thanksgiving, where they will most likely decrease the intensity. You can get involved in their activity by asking specific questions that will help you write your report. Get social with your favorite brand!!
6. Write report.
